Nathan Slate Joseph
Nathan Slate Joseph, born in 1943, has been part of the New York School of Art for thirty years. In the 1970s, he developed his unique painting methodology using found objects, influenced by a trip to Mexico where he adopted a vivid color palette. Joseph combined industrial urban materials with a concern for nature, blending Russian Constructivist aesthetics with environmental awareness. He applies pure pigments to zinc-galvanized steel sheets, exposing them to the elements to create rich textures and colors. His works blur the line between painting and sculpture, praised for their technical proficiency and conceptual depth.
